Undefined liturgists – god in all celebration

VJ Estrella – image management
Tessa Hendrikse – movement coach
AVJ Twinstar – music and image
Jeremy Being – baking
Jan Hough – flames and camera
Acting as a sort of test run for the concept of “worldly worship” and the complex audio-visual set up, a group of willing adventurers gathered despite late running and constant insurgency by young’uns.
After excellent self-crafted focaccia over an open fire, Tessa brought the group into new explorations of movement and space to Eden’s bridge “Sanctus”. After this “warm up” the party was pumped up with the likes of Bugge Wesseltoft, Coldplay, LCD Soundsystem and Stereo MC’s.
Many reported a sense of “going inward” despite expecting a more extrovert expression. At least on participant reported feeling the “presence of God”.
Does this mean it was a success?

The Cape Coma – Fact or Fable?
August 6, 2007 at 1:26 pm | In cape town | 1 CommentAfter 2 years living in Cape Town, I am starting to understand and typify the Capetonian vibe. People are relatively laid back, and in contact with their natural environment, there is after all much to enjoy about the Cape with its unique beauty and outdoor activities.
But on the other hand, it can be hard to get involved, keep in touch or develop relationships in this city; anything with a bit of va-va-voom, of intensity, and they pull back, or even, well, “choon you a bietjie skeef”.
Is this “slacker” attitude detrimental to creativity and community, or is it perhaps the right sort of environment in which the spiritual might be allowed to blossom away from the typical pressures of urban living?
What are your views on the Cape Coma – just an urban myth? And if not, is this somewhat somnambulist culture a good thing?
what are your concerns?
August 5, 2007 at 11:21 am | In community, emergent spirituality | Leave a CommentLet us draw a picture which starts to define the shape of tomorrows community. Let us base this on actual need, rather than how we might conform to a creed or subculture, or someone elses vision.
In this conforming we fit into a structure, but in a needs-based approach we identify what it is our hearts are are seeking, so that we might work towards this.
For example:
- I need to know how to connect with others not like me.
- I need to know that God is just and merciful.
- I need to feel included and valued while being fully myself.
And so, what are your 3 most pressing issues regarding your spiritual life?
welcome, welkom, wamkelekile, salaam, shalom

Anyone interested in emergent expressions of Spirituality is invited to contribute, either by posting or response. If you are interested in posting something, please respond to a post saying so.
The opinions expressed here are not representative of any particular organisation, nor even of any particular belief system. However, the “emergent conversation” has its roots in a Christianity for the 21st Century, and tends to attract those disaffected or dissatisfied by tradition or mainstream religion, so expect this emphasis. If you don’t come from a similar history, and you are interested in seeking spirituality, truth, or relevance, you are welcome to express your views here. Dogmatism and fundamentalism, be it Christian, Islamic, Humanist or Materialist is not encouraged. Having said that those struggling to emerge from such environments, who may have doubts and questions about how to move forward, need not fear rejection.
The key ethos has to do with the process of discovery and the willingness to converse.
