love.jpgActing as a sort of test run for the concept of “worldly worship” and the complex audio-visual set up, a group of willing adventurers gathered despite late running and constant insurgency by young’uns.

After excellent self-crafted focaccia over an open fire, Tessa brought the group into new explorations of movement and space to Eden’s bridge “Sanctus”. After this “warm up” the party was pumped up with the likes of Bugge Wesseltoft, Coldplay, LCD Soundsystem and Stereo MC’s.

Many reported a sense of “going inward” despite expecting a more extrovert expression. At least on participant reported feeling the “presence of God”.

Does this mean it was a success?

  1. Nic.

it certainly sounds like it was a success – even the mere attempting of something new would deem it such. keep pushing upwards & inwards with this divine experiment/journey.

    till later.

    way out on the rim…

    russ.

  2. nic,
definitely is a space for the wrestling forward albeit imperfect at times. I found the dancing and movement struck a chord, one to extend and with which to play further. love the idea of a participatory music liturgy .
Saw how much energy and focus and time you put into it. Definitely worth the exploration.
    ..

  3. Hey crew; what a great experience on Saturday, sorry I had to sneak home early! (It was a birthday surprise party).

I certainly didn’t know what to expect… indeed the dancing & movement was stretching a little for me at first, but that’s why I was there, to learn, grow and be stretched….but ended up wanting to get lost a lot more in the music and atmosphere of the experience, and a presence of God, which came with a profound gentleness. I did want the music to be louder….I like to feel it in my chest. Fun!

Great visuals and music. Would love to try something like it again (also learn from you on the technological side for some of my endeavours)

    Keep it up

Well you know you are totally a part of this journey, if it wasn’t for your encouragements of these last years I would not have been able to be in this space.

    abp
I am so appreciative of your support. I did notice how naturally you moved…

    stewdio
Louder, you want it louder? Can do, was only on 50% there.

You looked engaged and it was great to have you aboard. Anytime you would like to investigate the technical aspects, you’re welcome.

As a worship leader, how would you envision hosting a congregation through dance and image, not only through songs and words?

  5. Dancing as a form of worship explodes the feeling from within outwards in dedication and exhuberance. Making your body a living sacrifice that is joyful and full of God’s creative energy, is a wonerful way to be grateful for just life itself.

Nic, thanks for putting it all together in such a great space.

  6. Carol
your energy was not only appreciated by the One being worshipped but by all of us. in the first picture (thats you BTW), was that a dove from on high over your head or just a trick of the light?

  7. What a great evening – I really enjoyed fiddling with the knobs; In fact, I found the whole evening ‘childlike’ – by that I mean free from inhibitions with permission to just play! The music was well thought out and was a great foundation for the visuals and dance. Very freeing in all! well done Nic!

  8. “You can fiddle with my knobs anytime.”
[just could not resist that reposte, despite the risk of being labeled completely debauched]

You did a great job … how on earth did you get that dove to do that above carols head?

But Estrella, your most notable point here is the aspect of play – indeed, that is a key factor in rediscovering a worthy worship.

And also, loved what you said about “permission”. That begs a much more in depth look.

    Pray tell us more …

  9. How amazing to use our bodies in such celebration. In Him we live and move and have our being and as we explore our ability to move we discover more of Him in whose image we are made. The inward movement, that many of us experienced, is our honesty. The walk of discovery and rediscovery is a searching one and what an amazing place to go – by looking inward to God in us.

  10. in the russian heterodox church of the lateral day saints which due to oaths of secrecy i cannot say whether or not such an organisation exists, there is a saying:

“последуйте за за собакой с вашим носом но потеряйте вашу головку на вашем peril”

in english: “follow the dog with your nose but lose your head at your peril”.

you undefined liturgists are on the right path.

    viva & warskabu aaarsh!

  11. movingincircles:
its very encouraging to know that the inwardness was not waywardness, but honesty.

warskabu aaarsh, warskabu aaarsh, warskabu aaarsh:
once again your inscrutible credentials give us a glimpse of a summers day in gorky park, avoiding what is terminally smelly, whilst staying out of the gulag for the religiously unreformable.
